Thing 2 Posting...Learning Habits

Today is the last day of the year and I wanted to complete this phase of the project. I mentioned the 7 1/2 Habits of Highly Successful Learners briefly in my last post, but I overlooked the fact that it was supposed to have its own posting.

I am currently attending TCC, and need to develop as many successful habits as possible.
The strongest habit that has gotten me thus far is organization. Write down a schedule and stick to it. I like to use Outlooks' Task feature to notate project deadlines, and how far I have progressed. It helps keep me on track. I managed a 4.0 this semester and made President's Honor Roll. Not bad for a grandmother!

The second most helpful habit is to reward yourself with the time to learn. That's right reward yourself. Most of us are too busy to take time for ourselves. We give to our families and others that need us. But we seldom think we deserve to be pampered. Go back to school or pick up a hobby.

Thirdly, when I take on a new project I start from the most elementary information and work my way up. Working recently on a project about bees, I borrowed a book from the childrens' section first. I eventually found my way to the more advanced books, but at least I had a layer of understanding.

My hardest obstacle is procrastination. Usually I think I do not have enough time, but actually, I have the same amount of time as everyone else, it's what I chose to do with it.

My tool box runneth over and consists of my faith in God and His Love for me, my warm, loving and ever expanding family and friends, my special treasure who knows when to be tender and when to give me the jab to get moving, a general love of life and learning new things, a good computer, internet access, and music. I need a microphone, and a camera to do the podcasting!

If I need help, I can ask Pat, Felix or Tricia and almost anyone in Info. They are a great team to work with.

signing off...
Jeanne
